We had a space that no longer worked for the family. So Kaufman and Wolande discussed their options, such turning the space into a gaming room, or perhaps some sort wine area. In the end, they settled on the room’s current incarnation: ‘A very traditional gentleman’s room,’ as Kaufman describes it.

‘I just wanted someplace that made everybody feel comfortable and you could enjoy a glass of wine and a cigar,’ Wolande says. ‘I think it worked out perfectly.’

It’s definitely  my favorite room in the house,’ he says. ‘I just love being there. You sink into the chair, have a good glass of wine, watch a sporting event – the atmosphere is conducive to conversation and comfort’
