Lighting Up and Old Kitchen and New Sunroom
When a Naperville, IL, homeowner wanted to let the sunshine into her circa 1945 kitchen while making it more livable and work for aging in place, she turned to designer Joan Kaufman of Interior Planning. She also wanted to transform it into a larger and more inviting, contemporary kitchen reminiscent of her Florida home.
“We selected window treatments that filter glare but do not block light. Blinds (Hunter Douglas Modern Precious Metals Lightlines aluminum blinds) were selected for the skylights and can be adjusted to deflect glare and adjust the amount of light admitted any time the client desires. Custom valances in Scalamandre trim, with a Duralee cotton sheer in a celadon color allow for a light, fresh look that is finished and inviting.”
“The client resides in Florida during the winter months. The addition of the sunroom has made her home here in Illinois a much more inviting and comfortable home. The client now looks forward to spring and summer in the Midwest and spends a great deal of time in this room!”
